I started my career in the US Air Force on January 17, 1955, went through basic training at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas, took a mechanical test and graduated basic training as a 47131 Vehicle Mechanic bypassing technical school and sewed on Airman Third Class stripes. My first duty assignment was a Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma (1955) where I was a power man. My first overseas tour was Clark AFB, Philippines (1955-57) where I was assigned to the 6200th Motor Vehicle Squadron and worked in the engine tune up section, I made Airman Second Class and Airman First Class while there. My next duty station was Robins AFB, Georgia (1957) I was assigned to 729th AC&W, (Aircraft Control & Warning Squadron), which transferred to the 727 AC&W Squadron, Myrtle Beach AFB, South Carolina (1958-59). My next overseas tour was to France (1959-62) I was assigned to Det 2, 1141st Special Activities Squadron. Upon completing my assignment in France I was sent to Mac Dill AFB, Florida (1962) where I was assigned to the 306 Transportation Squadron (SAC)which chaged to 836th Transportation Squadron (TAC) and made Staff Sergeant, I went TDY 6 for months to Bien Hoa AB, Vietnam (1965) where I was assigned to the 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron and worked at the Minor Maintenance Section & gas pumps located within the Motor Pool compound, and returned to Mac Dill. My next overseas assignment was 8th Transportaiton Squadron, Ubon RTAFB, Thailand (1966-67) where I was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, upon completion of this tour I was assigned to Mac Dill AFB, Florida, I then went TDY for 6 months to Phan Rang AB, Vietnam (1968-69) (by way of Scofield Barracks, Hawaii Ranger Training School) where I was assigned to the 822nd Combat Security Police Squadron as NCOIC Motor Pool & Vehicle Maintenance Operations, while there I sewed on Technical Sergeant Stripes, I then returned to Mac Dill. My next duty assignment was Webb AFB, Big Spring Texas (1971-72) where I sewed on Master Sergeant stripes. My next overseas tour was Osan, Korea (1972) where I was assigned to Det 2, 5th TAC CON GP (Road Runners), Taugu, Korea, upon completion of that tour I went back to Mac Dill AFB and assigned to the 729th Tactical Control Squadron. My next overseas tour was to Clark AB, Philippines and ended in Korea (1974). Then to my final duty station Minot AFB, North Dakota, where I retired February 1, 1975.
