The Fifties Remembered On 17 January 1955 @ age 18, I joined the U.S. Air Force. Where Atlanta Georgia induction center located on Ponce DeLeon Avenue. In those days many mama's delivered their babies at home. I was born in the front bedroom of the old Asa G. Candler home, 1069 Seaboard Avenue N.E., Atlanta, Georgia.
We lived there until 1950 ~ moving twice to California. To Eureka prior to the war & again to Eureka after the war. In 1950 we moved to Hapeville where we lived until I joined the service.
